This Friday written reports will be sent home for most pupils. Some pupils in years 1-3 will receive their report early next term from August on.

There will be a brief survey on reports at the start of next term. We need your feedback so we can continue to improve our reporting to you.

Interviews for Room 5 only are being held this Thursday July 1 in the Interview Room in the Office block. Times should have been arranged with Miss V.

We wish Miss Vermeulen well on her travels and thank her for the work she has done in our school.

We have had a report from a member of the neighbourhood of a man approaching young people around the Nicol St / Metzger St area. Please talk with your children about keeping themselves safe and the dangers of talking to strangers.

Parent / teacher interviews are happening again on August 5^th. Online bookings are now open for you to choose the time(s) that suit you. Simply go to the website www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter the school code 2X892. Follow the steps to book the interview with the teacher at the time you want. Alternatively, if you don’t have internet access you can ring the office or call in and we will help you with the booking.

Welcome to St Patrick’s: Thomas Cassidy and Huntar Colvin who started in room 6 this week.

Congratulations to Chloe Jarvis, and Helena Rikiti who made it into the Year 5 All Saints netball team and to Taneko Elkington and Maddison Parkhill who made it into the Year 6 team. Well done girls!

Bella Barrett was selected in the Southland Touch under 11 mixed rep team. Congratulations Bella!

Thank you to all those who purchased books at the book fair. Over $2000 was raised which enabled to library to select $600 of free books! Junior: Kia ora from the Junior Syndicate

· In Religious education we are finishing off learning about the Holy Spirit. Ask your child to tell you a little bit about what they have learnt.

· Could we please have all sample folders back to school ASAP as these are going home again on Friday?

· Writers club was on Tuesday morning. Congratulations to all the children who got their next ribbon. It was a fantastic effort from everyone. Keep trying all those children who didn’t quite get there this term.

· Could all library books be brought back to the classroom teachers by Friday also any reading books you have from home. Thanks.

· Thank you for all the help and support we have had from parents and our wonderful Let’s Read grandparents over the term.

Fitness Tip: Make up your own jump jam and dance your sock off. Be creative with your movements to warm up in this winter weather! Have a safe and happy holiday.

Senior Syndicate Kia Ora from the Senior Syndicate

Last Friday we had a fantastic day putting all we have learned about civil defence into practice. Children from across the syndicate took on varied roles from the police, to the fire service right through to injured victims of a disaster. It was a lot of fun but also a lot of learning took place. A big thank you to those parents who took part and also thanks must go out to the emergency services who helped the day to run so smoothly.

· This Friday reports and sample folders will be going out. This is a new report format we are trying with the introduction of National Standards. If you have any questions regarding these we will be having interviews in week 3 of next term, though feel free to pop in and see your child’s class teacher earlier if you have any burning questions.

· This week in the senior syndicate we have been lucky enough to attend a basketball tournament at the Stadium against all the other South town schools taking part in the Sharks basketball programme . Congratulations to all the children for fantastic behaviour on the day. Apologies to any children in year 3 in the junior syndicate who thought this was open to them.

Lastly a big thank you to all those parents/caregivers who have helped out in any way this term. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Enviro Tip In Australia and New Zealand, mobile phones are discarded on average every 18 to 24 months, the old phones that are not recycled end up in landfill sites where the metals they contain (including gold and silver) are wasted. Did you know that leakage from just one mobile phone battery can pollute 600,000 litres of water!

So here are some options for you to stop this pollution, if your phone is still working don't upgrade it.

If you do want to upgrade it contact a charity who might reuse or recycle your phone. Or find a website that will recycle your phone and maybe send you money for it.

. The Parish Prayer/ Support group meet every Tuesday at 2 pm in the Parish Centre. They reflect on the Sunday gospel, pray and sing. Please feel free to join them. Any enquiries to Lily Spencer 2169076.
