Special Character
St Patrick's School is a Roman Catholic School in which the
whole school community, through the general school programme and in its Religious
Instructions and Observances exercises the right to live and teach the values
of Jesus Christ. These values are as expressed in the Scriptures and in the
practices worship and doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church, as determined
from time to time by the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese.
This Special character is expressed in all areas of our school. Special Character is not a subject taught in school such as Religious Education, but it permeates St Patrick's School.
All classes are taught Religious Education from the National Curriculum.Classes also participate in daily prayer. Each day is started with class prayer when 3 candles are lit to signify the home, school and parish working together.
All classes prepare a class mass at least once a term. An older and younger class share this time together.
Pupils who have made their first reconciliation will celebrate this sacrament at least once a term.
Not all pupils are catholic at St Patrick's School. They still participate
in all areas of the school. Several of these pupils have chosen to become
Catholics during their time at St Patrick's.
