POLICY ON CONSULTATION AND INVOLVEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY

 

 

PURPOSE:

 

To enhance learning by establishing a responsive and effective partnership with the community.

 

To inform and seek involvement of the School's community in activities and practices within the School.

 

To encourage community and staff commitment by building on existing networks and structures, and establishing new groups where they are needed.

 

GUIDELINES:

 

We encourage a welcoming school atmosphere which acknowledges the value of our community support.

 

There are opportunities for community involvement in, and communication with, attendance at school activities eg liturgies, sporting and cultural performances, guest speakers, visiting classes, appointments with teachers and principal.

 

The school will ensure the community and staff understand the communication process.

 

The school will draw on the strengths and interests of people and groups in the community.

 

The school will communicate with the community through newsletters, staff/caregiver discussion on pupil's development and progress, written reports on pupil progress; verbal and written surveys, display boards etc.

 

Consideration will be given to using culturally appropriate styles and venues to meet with parents.
