Objectives

1) To provide a plan that provides a suitable safe environment.

 

2) To provide safe practices in using school buildings and environment.

 

Guidelines

1) The plan will include the following components:

ü      emergency evacuation routines including warning system.

ü      inspection and maintenance of playground equipment.

ü      accident procedures.

ü      safety with machinery being used at school eg lawnmowers.

ü      heating.

ü      safety practices within buildings.

ü      furniture and general classroom equipment.

ü      storage of dangerous goods.

 

2) The property sub-committee will report to the board  on monitoring of the plan and subsequent developments.

 

 

 

Review of policy

Staff, both teaching and non teaching were asked if each of the guidelines were carried out

Responses were:

Evacuations are carried out                                                      

Inspections and maintenance carried out                                   

Accident procedures are followed                                            

Safety practices are observed                                                  

Safe practices are carried out within buildings

Furniture and equipment are safe                      

Dangerous goods are stored safely
