INSERVICE STAFF DEVELOPMENT

 

 

RATIONALE:

 

Inservice for staff will result in better trained staff who are able to teach children more effectively.

 

PURPOSE:

 

to enable teaching staff to keep up to date with development in   education. - to enableling more effective teaching of children.

To enable support staff to keep up to date with developments in their designated areas.

 

 

GUIDELINES:

·        Whole teaching staff development is desirable where possible

·        there is a set amount of money for each staff member per   year

·        the amount of money will be based on hours worked eg full-time or part-time

·        all staff members teaching and non teaching are entitled to inservice

·        each staff member, in consultation with the Principal will determine a course (not exceeding the predetermined $ value).

·        there will be no carry over money from year to year.

·        the $ amount must cover any course fees, travel and the cost of a reliever if required.

·        any course in excess of set $ amount can be met by an individual teacher.

·        some inservice will be determined after staff appraisals

 

CONCLUSION:

 

Inservice training (Staff Development) will result in more highly trained teachers who are able to teach children better.
