PROPERTY MANAGEMENT - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS POLICY

Purposes:

1.         To maintain a long term equipment plan (Ten Years) for replacement of major 

furniture and equipment items over the value of $250.00 (individually, or collectively in some cases).

 

2.          To maintain the expenditure pattern adopted to meet the school’s projected budget/cash flow.

 

3.          To maintain the asset register of all equipment items concerned with the delivery of curriculum areas, administration, learning and teaching programme.

 

Guidelines/Procedures:

1.          The Board of Trustees is responsible in consultation with the Principal to maintain

(a) The equipment and furnishing programme and its monitoring procedures

(b) The long term plan of replacement.

 

2.          The Principal is responsible for the day to day administration of the programme. Authority may be delegated for administrating all or some of the programme.

 

3.         An Asset Register and long term plan for replacement is in place.  The Asset Register details all school equipment and furnishings in excess of $250.00.

 

4.         Consultants may be used at required times for advice and guidance on the development of  the overall plan.

 

5.          The plan covers a ten year period.

(a) Value of items.

(b) The expected time over the ten year period of replacement.

(c) The expected cost of replacement.  The plan is set up in grid form on a year by year basis.

 

6.          The Principal is responsible for reporting to the Board of trustees Property/Grounds sub committee on aspects of Programme Development.  The Board will receive regular reports     from the sub committee of their monthly meetings and subsequently will report annually to        the community as part of the total property management policy report.
