Reporting to Parents

on pupils progress and achievement.

 

Purposes

·        To provide parents with information about their children’s overall progress.

·        To foster co-operation and dialogue between teachers and parents to decide and review each child’s learning priorities.

 

Guidelines

·        Reporting is honest, clear balanced and constructive.

 

·        Reporting procedures are consistent throughout the school.

 

·        Achievements and progress are reported with reference to the school’s curriculum objectives and learning goals.

 

·        Reporting both formal and informal, is based on the professional judgements of teachers supported by evidence in children’s work.

 

·        Reporting information is drawn from :

i)       observations of children’s day top day work and attitudes.

ii)      progressive samples of the child’s work gathered over a period of time.

iii)    results from tests and surveys, and other data contained in assessment

 

·        The school follows an annual programme of reporting to parents :

·        In addition to the annual programme, teacher or parent requests for interviews are arranged at any other time during the year to discuss points of interest or concern about a child’s progress, or well being.
